1. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
The critically acclaimed, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU is a refreshing take on the world of romantic comedies. With hidden messages that go deep and complex characters, you can tell an effort was made to create them from scratch, with each episode being crafted carefully for quality in mind rather than using tropes or clichés found often in other anime romcoms. The plot itself isn’t simplistic, but its central theme revolves around friendship and society, so there are plenty of themes tackled by this show which will resonate with most viewers who watch.
2. The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K
Saiki K is an introverted psychic who wants to be left alone. But people are drawn to him, nonetheless. One funny thing about this slice of life comedy show is that Saeki talks telepathically without using his mouth at all! And nobody pays it any mind because he has the power and abilities needed to do so anyway. This show doesn’t have any lewd episodes, outrageous fan service humor, dumb over-the-top jokes – everything flows naturally in “The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K”, which makes it a special comedy for how clean its content typically is overall.
3. Yamada-Kun And The Seven Witches
This anime starts with a high-schooler named Yamada who trips and falls on his classmate. When they switch bodies, the discovery of magic takes them to all kinds of hijinks! There are seven witches at this school that give powers when kissed – from body-swapping to invisibility. High-voltage fun awaits in every episode for viewers as Ryu faces new challenges each week.
Haikyuu is an anime that has taken the sports world by storm with its stellar protagonist and phenomenal plot. You’ll be rooting for this team from start to finish as they balance their strengths and weaknesses without using fan service like Kuroko No Basket did in many of their episodes. Haikyuu shows us what we love about going to school—and it doesn’t involve a vampire!

Danganronpa is a psychological series about students locked inside of their school. It’s not an educational facility, but rather sick and twisted prison-like where the characters lives are on the line. Not like other anime that depict gore as its central theme, Danganronpa instead features brutal games which take place from start to finish because people can do anything to survive in its gruesome world, even if they have to work against each other.
6. Maid Sama
Misaki Ayuzawa is a hardworking, no-nonsense high school girl who can’t seem to catch a break. From financial troubles at home to being the scapegoat for her classmates on campus and even finding herself in embarrassing situations with the hottest guy in school–the one she’s head over heels in love with! But Misaki isn’t your average teenager either: She also works as an undercover maid for Usui Takumi of all people, unenthusiastically fulfilling his every whim under strict orders from her mother.
7. After The Rain
This short anime series is a romance between a high school student Akira Tachibana and her middle-aged, divorced boss. But that’s just the start of it: After The Rain is actually an uplifting story about healing and self-confidence. When she injures herself while running track during one fateful accident, Akira falls for her older boss as a way to heal from all her pain– which also helps him out too! Her loving support encourages his son in return; they have their own little family dynamic together where every person can be themselves without judgment or shame.
8. Kimi ni Todoke
This anime is perfect for those who want something different from the typical high school romance. Kimi ni Todoke tells the story of Kuronuma Sawako, an average girl with a secret that turns her into an outcast at her new school. Her classmates don’t know why they are so afraid to be around Sawako and soon start calling her Sadako because she resembles The Ring’s ghostly antagonist (and protagonist in some versions). It takes time before Shota Kazehaya notices how sad and lonely his classmate is, but when he does, it changes both their lives forever.
During the first day of high school, Keita Amano meets Karen Tendou. She is an exemplary student who is proclaimed to be a popular girl around campus, and he wants her to disappear from his life! One day she discovers that he’s also into gaming, so she becomes interested in him for being such a good gamer. However, when visiting the game club, they encountered something completely different than what Amano was used to – it forces them both outside their comfort zone where new friendships were made and feelings developed.
Kyoto Animation’s K-On is one of the most iconic anime to come out in recent years. It has a simple premise that follows four fun girls as they form an after school band and music club called “The Light Music Club”. The humor is underrated because it can be found everywhere, especially when we question what our watcher selves are watching!
Ryūji and Taiga’s friendship starts off as a game but soon turns into something more. The pair start by building trust for each other when they are both in love with each others’ best friend –Ryuji has feelings for Minori while Taiga is after Aisaka. But eventually, their relationship deepens to that of true friends who need time to figure out what life means without one another.

12. Great Teacher Onizuka
With a wry, sarcastic tone as if to indicate that the show is contrived and ridiculous, this older series will have you thinking about high school in ways you never thought possible. Watch Eikichi Onizuka go from being an intimidating gangster into your friendly neighbourhood mentor who takes his students under his wing after he becomes their teacher. Will these young men turn out alright? Find out when watching!
13. Ouran High School Host Club
This shojo series is set at Ouran high school, where the female lead, Haruhi Fujioka, breaks a valuable vase. With the intent to make things right, she joins the host club and becomes surrounded by handsome boys who live there! This show doesn’t shy away from poking fun of various conventions in the Shojo genre as well as gender stereotypes on occasion- it’s quite something to see her get mistaken for a boy several times throughout this hilarious series.
14. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
This isekai anime follows Akihisa Yoshii, who studies in a school which experiments with the summoning of mythical beasts, and has a strict ranking system. If you are a highly skilled student with good grades, then you’re on the A-level group that gets access to all the best perks: beautiful and comfortable seats as well as air-conditioned classrooms! But if your skills or grade isn’t up to par? Well, you don’t get any special treatment; there is no mercy for those at F rank level.
15. How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend
Saekano: How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend is a harem anime, but it’s not your typical one. It has the same basic premise of “cute girls helping you build a game,” but what makes this different from other shows like that is its self-awareness and how well-characterized Megumi Kato (the main character‘s creative assistant) who literally embodies every single cliché in the book to be appealing at first glance before she reveals her true nature as an intelligent student with excellent grades- just outside Tomoya’s league.
16. Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends
Haganai is a coming-of-age anime that speaks to the struggles of socializing in high school. The main characters, who don’t excel at this skill themselves, start an organization called “The Neighbors Club” for teenagers just like them. It shows bullying as well as loneliness and how friendships are created through shared pain.
17. Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai
Sakuta is a high schooler who saw his senpai in the library in a bunny girl outfit. But this is not a cheap erotica anime. Instead, Sakuta and his senpai Mai start a quest to help their students who suffer from “adolescence syndrome.” Those with this syndrome seems invisible and unheard of- they’re terribly lonely too! Along the way, Sakuta helps Kaede overcome her fear of society so she can become a member once again.
Shimoneta is an Ecchi with class that cleverly delivers fan service. It never does it just for the sake of doing so, but rather in order to deliver a punchline or thought-provoking commentary on society and sexuality. The anime follows a society where everything “unclean”, like dirty jokes, sex, perversion, are banned as they are deemed distasteful by SJWs who have no sense of humor about themselves or anyone else’s feelings. This leads into comedy gold because Shimoneta shows how we should not take ourselves too seriously even though these subjects can often be controversial.
19. Daily Lives Of High School Boys
The comedy of the Daily Lives Of High School Boys is gender-specific. But that doesn’t mean you can’t see humor in it if you’re a woman like I am. The show has a male version of something like K-On but without any Moe and Kawaii designs or episodes to make things more complicated than they should be for high school boys who live their daily lives on screen just because life sometimes isn’t as exciting off-camera.
20. School Rumble
A mix of comedy and romance, School Rumble is a long-running anime series from the early 2000s. The show focuses on Tenma Kugayama, an airheaded girl who has a big heart but lacks common sense. Harima Kenji enters her life as well, with his past being shrouded in mystery; he becomes infatuated with Tenma soon after meeting her for what seemed like no reason at all! With plenty of misunderstandings to go around paired with daft humor that never fails to make you laugh out loud every episode, there’s more than enough entertainment value packed into this classic slice-of-life story about high school kids living their everyday lives full of fun times and tough decisions alike.
21. Assassination Classroom
Koro-sensei is an invader from outer space who wants to destroy the Earth. But he also has a passion for teaching, and so we find ourselves in his classroom, surrounded by aliens wielding weapons designed to kill us all while Koro teaches about math, science or English literature. It’s not easy being an average student at Kunugigaoka Academy with everything that goes on there, but it helps to have friends like Nagisa Shiota and Ritsu.
22. Mightiest Disciple Kenichi
They say that a hero is only as good as his villain, but what happens when the protagonist and antagonist share an instructor? That’s just one of many exciting questions explored in this anime. The underdog, Kenichi, finds himself up against some high-level bad guys who are more than willing to take advantage of him at every turn. Fortunately for our young fighter, he has access to Ryouzanpaku – a traditional dojo where martial artists from all disciplines come together under one roof!
Hyouka is an anime that explores the lamest, boring topics you can find in school. It’s so much more than just a reflection of those things, too, though- it brings them to life and makes them engaging even if they’re not! The main characters are always up for solving any mystery (even when there isn’t one) with their unique style, which leaves viewers on edge, waiting for what will happen next.
24. Tonari no Seki-Kun: The Master of Killing Time
Seki-Kun is an absolute genius when it comes to finding ways to entertain himself during dull moments. He creates games out of nothing in order for him and anyone else who’s bored, like Yokoi sitting next to him. Seki has a blast on his desk by playing dominos with erasers that end up including a pyrotechnic display! This bothers poor distracted Yokoi, though; she wishes she could pay attention better because her friend over there never stops making such exciting things happen at all times.
25. My Hero Academia

26. Monthly Girls Nozaki Kun
Monthly Girls Nozaki Kun is about a mangaka and a girl: Chiyo Sakura, who falls in love with him. It sounds cliché, doesn’t it? And the irony is Nozaki Kun (the manga artist) makes a lot of Shoujo Manga. It’s got some stupid comedy, but at its heart are good characters that keep you entertained- depending on which side of the camp you’re from; fans either LOVE this anime or hate the humor. But hey – for every opinion, there’s someone to be disagreed with!
27. Kaguya Sama

28. Kokoro Connect
Kokoro Connect is a very deep anime that has lots of twists and turns. The characters are often forced to do things they’re not comfortable with, such as violence, sex, or anything you can imagine. Throughout these trials, the show explores topics like Romance; Hardship; Friendship problems; Insecurities which makes for an interesting storyline! The main premise is that the members of the Student Cultural Society experience random body swap situations that lead to either comical or dark situations.

The wacky student Haruhi Suzumiya forms the SOS Brigade, one of the most famous anime school clubs that specializes in supernatural events. A couple of other students from the same school join club at her insistence, and they soon realize there is more to Ayako than just eccentricity.
These insane characters are like none you’ve ever seen before! They’re so wacky that whiplash is sure to follow. This high school comedy has it all, and each episode will leave viewers wondering what they should expect next time around with a new character or plot development coming out of nowhere every few seconds. Except for Yuuko, who mostly handles the lunacy happening around her.
31. High School DxD
His life before death was not so fairytale-like. He is killed by a beautiful girl who turns out to be an angel and saved by the devil Rias Gremory, now he has become her slave and needs to do anything she asks of him. i’High School DxD’ is for those who love nudity or ecchi stuff, as there are plenty in this story too!
The first thing you’ll notice about Charlotte is how grounded it feels, even though the show revolves around teenagers with superpowers. Anime characters are typically either too overpowered or don’t have any limits to their abilities. What’s different in this anime? Each character has a power that they can use for specific purposes – and only within those constraints do these kids get into trouble!

35. Himouto! Umaru Chan
Himouto! Umaru Chan is one of Doga Kobo’s most recent and wittiest shows. If you are familiar with their style as an anime studio, it will come as no surprise that the animation for this show has a similar feel– but in contrast, there’s also more than meets the eye. While at school, she may be seen by her peers as a perfect student who inspires others; when back home, she transforms into a lazy slob who plays video games while eating potato chips or drinking soda- annoying her older brother on top of everything else.

The tasks she and other members are assigned all end up in humorous mishaps, but that might be better than being good! Gakkou Gurashi is a unique horror-comedy anime that features four girls as the only survivors of an apocalyptic zombie outbreak.
