Hey there, fantasy lovers! We already know how the story goes, right? Our main character dies and gets reborn or summoned to a different world with absurd premises like statuses and attributes we usually find in video games.
Dying might suck, but being transported to another world certainly wouldn’t! So if I was offered an opportunity to be reborn or transported to another world and have the beautiful goddess Aqua as my companion, I’d jump right at it.
Although there are much anime with isekai themes out there, don’t be pissed if you can’t find your favorite isekai anime on this list. We based our list on more than just the isekai theme. Here, you’ll find anime that share the same comedic elements as KonoSuba. If you’re looking for new worlds to explore and get lost in a variety of fun anime, check out our anime recommendations below.

17. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
Life in the bustling city of Orario is never dull, especially for Bell Cranel, a naïve young man who hopes to become the greatest adventurer in the land. After encountering Hestia and her support, he embarks on an adventurous quest deep within The Dungeon’s monster-filled catacombs, where death lurks around every corner while mystery power moves amidst shadows.
No one can ever be certain of anything in a world where humans and gods work together. An ambitious protagonist tries to make the best out of any situation they’re given by accepting it with open arms. Still, sometimes things don’t go as planned.
Like KonoSuba, we have our protagonist going on adventures with a seemingly useless goddess. Although this fantasy anime series has dramatic undertones, it shares the same levels of comedy in scenes of the show.
16. How Not to Summon a Demon Lord
When it comes to the popular fantasy MMORPG Cross Reverie, none could match Diablo’s power. He possessed rare artifacts and an unrivaled player level that overpowered all those who dared challenge him. But despite his fearsome reputation as a Demon King in-game, Takuma Sakamoto is one of society’s shut-ins with no social skills or ambition outside gaming until he was transported to another world where he became Diablo!
Takuma is summoned into a world that resembles his favorite online game. He’s greeted by a couple of female characters who summon him and perform an enslavement ritual on him. Still, the spell backfires on the clumsy girls, and they become slaves instead! With some awkwardness between them all, Takuma decides to go with these slave girls to find out how to unbind their contract while learning what it means to be this new Demon King.
This is an isekai anime reborn as a comedy anime. Having Takuma act like a demon lord from his fantasy roleplaying adventures game despite his social awkwardness is a recipe for a comedy adventure.
In the not-too-distant future, Earth falls to an invasion of Amanto aliens. As a result, swords are outlawed, and samurai have fallen into disrespect.
Gintoki Sakata still possesses the heart of a samurai, even though his love for sweets and work as an odd-jobs man might not suggest it. With him are Shinpachi Shimura with glasses and a strong heart, Kagura with her umbrella who always has room in her stomach to eat more food no matter how much she eats already, Sadaharu, their oversized pet dog – all going on many adventures together. But, of course, these jobs they take aren’t easy: they often have run-ins with rebels or assassins, which result in unfortunate consequences that can be both funny but also sad at times.
This is an amazing watch and easily one of the funniest anime out there. It takes outrageous adventure series tropes and throws them back in your face making this a very funny anime.

14. Outbreak Company
Shinichi Kanou is a shut-in otaku with a comprehensive knowledge of anime, manga, and video games. One day after applying for a job in hopes of escaping his secluded lifestyle, he was kidnapped and transported to the Eldant Empire -a fantasy world filled with elves, dragons, dwarves. Trapped in this strange land, Shinichi is given an unlikely task by the Japanese government: To spread otaku culture across the realm by becoming an “Otaku Missionary.”
To accomplish his mission, he is supported by the Japanese government. Together with the half-elf maid Myucel and Princess Petralka of the Eldant Empire, he will overcome the obstacles of politics, social classes, and ethnic discrimination to promote the ways of the otaku in this holy land.
Our hero is living in another world for a mission. But instead of fighting like the protagonist from KonoSuba, our hero has to be an ambassador and share culture with other countries! A weird premise for a fantasy anime series, and these comedy elements make for a great watch
13. Ixion Saga DT
One day, Kon Hokaze wakes up in a world he does not know. Not only that, but the borders of this new land are surrounded by an unknown force called Alma Energy, and he has to join forces with these misfits on their journey forward.
Ixion Saga DT is the perfect show for fans of KonoSuba. With funny characters that never run out of ideas to keep you laughing, which is especially important in a world where humans fight against each other with god-like powers while also battling more fantastical creatures like dragons and orcs.
12. Utawarerumono: The False Faces
When the young man wakes up, he is in an unfamiliar snowy plain; To make matters worse, a gigantic monster chases him! Unfortunately, he was so consumed by this sudden turn of events that he didn’t even notice when another human being came to rescue him: A strange girl with animal-like features and horns on her head.
Haku is his name now, and Kuon is his new companion. The world has a funny way of teasing you with what might be. That’s the life Haku and Kuon live now, always on their toes for when anything can happen at any moment. Will they find happiness in this new land? They shall see!
This show offers an interesting premise. It’s episodic but also has a story arc that interests many fans of the genre. The plot is quirky and amusing, yet it can be serious when necessary, something any fan would appreciate!
11. The Devil is a Part-timer!
Striking fear into the hearts of mortals, Satan, and his demon armies arrive in Ente Isla with plans to conquer it. However, their efforts are foiled by Emilia. She forces them back through a dimensional portal, only for them to land in modern-day Tokyo! Alongside loyal general Alsiel, they must find a way home while still determinedly plotting an invasion of Ente Isla again—if they can make it there first, that is.
Sadao Maou is a devil who has been banished to Earth. He changes into a human guise and begins working at MgRonald’s. He quickly realizes the lack of magic on Earth makes it impossible for him to take over Ente Isla, his native land. However, this doesn’t stop Sadao from climbing up in rank within MgRonalds.
The Devil is a Part-timer! Showcases a different kind of one-way journey, where the demon king himself with many lovable characters are on this world taking on many adventures.
10. Dog Days
The Republic of Biscotti has come under attack by the Galette Leo Knights, a cat-like people from another world. To save her home country and friends in Flonyard, Princess Millhiore summons Cinque Izumi, a junior high school student on Earth. He is granted magical powers that allow him to defend his new homeland against their enemies.
After agreeing to help Biscotti, Cinque retrieves a sacred weapon called the Palladion and prepares for war. In Flonyard, wars are fought with no casualties, making them more akin to sports competitions to raise money from kingdoms that participate. Cinque is successful in his role as Biscotti’s champion but learns he cannot be returned home due to rules set by scientists on this land, continuing his duty now serving Princess Millhiore until they figure something out.
9. Log Horizon
Thirty thousand Japanese gamers are whisked from their normal lives into the world of popular MMORPG Elder Tale after downloading a new update in the blink of an eye. Among them is Shiroe, who quickly becomes accustomed to this reality and sets out exploring his surroundings with caution as he navigates through unknown territory to become more powerful within this game-like environment.
Shiroe must learn to live in this new world, leading others and negotiating with the NPC “natives” to bring stability. He is joined by his friend Naotsugu who logged into an MMORPG for the first time ever only to find himself trapped inside it – a story of intrigue as Shiroe tries everything he can think of just so that they may be able to survive.
8. Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
A group of strangers who wake up in a foreign land with nothing but hazy memories and the knowledge of their name, thrown into this game-like world where they have to take on the role of soldiers for an organization called The Reserve Army. At first, it feels like there is no hope. Over time, they start feeling fear, survival instincts going strong within them that force them to get stronger so that everything will be different one day.
When all of the stronger candidates join together, those left behind must create a party to survive. The team consists of Manato, the charismatic leader and priest; Haruhiro, an unlucky thief with more bad luck than good fortune; Yume, who never lets her cheerful nature slow down for anything or anyone; Shihoru, who is shy but powerful in magic as well as healing abilities; Mogzo has always been kind-hearted and caring yet secretive about his past; Ranta is rowdy because he comes from humble beginnings.
The world of Hai to Gensou no Grimgar is a harsh reality. However, even the most ideal set-up would be nothing against it, as this show proves its lack of dreamy atmospheres and everything that comes with them.
On the way to a doujin convention in Ginza, Youji Itami was faced with something he never expected: A portal that released monsters and warriors from medieval times. With swift actions, the otaku successfully saved many lives. At the same time, the soldiers of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces directed their efforts towards stopping this invasion.
Three months after the attack, Youji led a special recon team as part of a JSDF task force. They must travel into this unknown world to learn more about what they are dealing with and attempt to befriend the locals by creating peaceful ties between both sides. However, if they fail, their consequence will be participating in an all-encompassing war that would potentially destroy them on either side of the gate.
The fantasy elements in this anime are different. That difference makes it a fun anime with characters with different values trying for cultural exchange.
6. Pop Team Epic
Another gag anime on the list- Pop Team Epic, is an absurd sketch comedic anime with pop culture references. However, it takes this humor to another level, with heavy doses of Pokémon and other related things.
Popuko and Pipimi are two high school girls with an insane sense of humor. They bounce from parody to drama, comedy to action-packed sequences as they work their way towards making the show a real anime series. Popuko being short and quick-tempered while her partner is tall and calm will keep you laughing through each episode – but it’ll also teach you how not to be mad at every little thing!
After being ambushed by bandits in a forest, Lina Inverse was about to effortlessly pummel her would-be attackers. Suddenly Gourry Gabriev showed up and decided she needed protecting. But after he defeats them posthaste, the oblivious cavalier decides to escort Lina all the way back home anyway!
Lina has always been a talented magician, but she never knew that her luck would give her access to an ancient and magical object. Unfortunately, now two men are hunting Lina to steal this powerful item for their own purposes, which could potentially threaten all life as we know it!
The Slayers plot is like a roller coaster that twists and turns in every direction, changing moods from comedy to adventure/ fantasy. This makes it hard for the show’s identity to be pinned down as either just one or both genres.
