Yukiko Aikei takes the front line in character design, the same character designer as Aikatsu Star, Sword Art Online, and most of the entries in this list. Now that Shouko has transferred out of the school, Shoya is at the mercy of his peers. He is heartlessly ridiculed throughout elementary and middle school while fay turn a blind eye.

She then tells him about her pancreatic ailment and how she knows her time is running out. Her deadly sickness is only known to her family; even her closest friends are unaware. Despite this revelation, he has no sympathy for her plight, but caught in the currents of Sakura’s continuous buoyancy, he eventually agrees to accompany her for the rest of her days.

As the two polar opposites engage, their bond grows stronger, intertwining via their decisions each day. Her seeming unpredictability and nonchalance upset the protagonist’s emotionless flow of existence, eventually opening his heart as he realizes and accepts the actual meaning of living.

This short anime movie has a very rustic art style and practically no dialogue. A silent film, if you will. But the strokes, the fluidity, and use of music and the soundtrack are very close to Words Bubble Like Soda Pop.

A girl and her bear doll reside on a street corner, together with a naughty mouse named Kanku-bouya, a sycamore tree, an antique street lamp, a moth, and posters depicting a bar girl a violinist, and a pianist. They all want to live, but the world may not allow them to.

Will the residents of the street corner be able to retain their peaceful existences in Aru Machi Kado no Monogatari, or will war and oppression bring them to their knees?
