As anime continues to gain mainstream interest, newer fans often struggle to find a place to start. Don’t worry. We got you covered with our rundown of the best anime fights of 2020 because we know that nothing gets a fan rearing to go like a good old-fashioned anime fight.
In this blog post, we showcase what we think are some of the best anime fights of 2020.
The list is in no particular order.
Trevor & Sypha vs the nether region Demons: Castlevania ( Season 3: Episode 10 )
Castlevania is an animated series based on the game Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, released on Netflix worldwide. Castlevania is about a vampire hunter who fights to save a besieged city from an army of otherworldly beasts controlled by Dracula himself.
We liked this fight because of the showcase of different techniques and the showcase of the character’s powers.
It’s one of the best video game adaptations available and a fantastic non-japanese anime that’s worth watching.
Quetzalcoatl vs Tiamat: Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Manju ( Episode 18 )
The Mage King Solomon has incinerated the foundations of humanity. Chaldea, a secret mages organization with the mission to preserve humanity’s future, foresaw mankind’s extinction in 2015. Thus commenced the operation to repair the Singularities in history caused by Holy Grails dispersed across time and space—Operation Grand Order. Using the Rayshift time travel technology, Chaldea’s last master Ritsuka Fujimaru and his demi-servant Mash Kyrielight have traveled to and resolved six Singularities. Now, they depart for their most dangerous destination yet: a civilization in the Age of Gods, B.C. 2655 Mesopotamia. Ritsuka and Mash soon discover that Demonic Beasts roam the land, attacking people and towns. Amidst chaos and terror lies humanity’s last defense—Uruk, a fortress city that acts as the frontline for the battle against the beasts. The battlefront is commanded by none other than King Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, who sought aid from Heroic Spirits and took on the role of a mage to protect his city.
Quetzalcoatl is a character who can vaporize enemies with heat and solar winds and is invulnerable to those of Good alignment. At the same time, Tiamat is a being who does not possess a concept of and exists in a world of imaginary numbers, and has authority over all life on earth.
The reason why we picked this fight is because it’s incredible to fight scenes and animation. The visual is stunning, as expected with all the Fate series.
Captains vs Captains: Black Clover ( Episode 151 )
Black Clover is a shonen manga written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. It’s been compared to One Piece when it comes to art and story. It takes place in a world where magic exists and is a common trait found in every individual.
The Black Clover story follows Asta and Yuno as they crawl their way up the ladder of the Clover Kingdom’s Order of the Magic Knights, amid scrutiny by the nobles, to become the Magic Emperor.
This fight is probably one of the best filler episodes with splendid action fights you will see. This particular anime fight shows all the eight captains’ magical abilities and skills in a four vs. four-team fight.
Jin Mori vs Jegal Taek: The God of High School ( Episode 13 )
The God of High School is about a mysterious organization that sends out invitations for a tournament to every skilled fighter in the world. The concept is if you win, you can have anything you want. Only the best fighter can claim the title of The God of High School.
God of high school is a fast-paced action anime with a fight scene in almost every episode.
Jin Mori is the main protagonist of the show and is revealed to be the Monkey King who rules the Ore Kingdom, while Jegal Taek was considered one of the top 3 fighters in the country and was famously known as Charisma Jegal Taek.
This battle is between someone who thinks he is a god against an actual god who doesn’t know he is one.
There is no denying that this fight is spectacular. If you are an anime fight junkie, then definitely check out The God of High School.
Endeavor vs Nomu: My Hero Academia ( Season 4 Episode 25 )
My Hero Academia is about a world where most people have superpowers, middle school student Izuku Midoriya is part of 20 percent of the population born without them. But his dream is to become a superhero and attend the premier Japanese school for aspiring superheroes, U.A. High. After a fateful run-in with All Might, the world’s greatest hero, he learns that his idol is dying and wants to pass on his mantle. His chosen successor, of course, is Midoriya.
This eventually leads to Midoriya inheriting All Might’s powers and attending U.A. High, where All Might trains the next generation of heroes.
We like this fight because there’s a lot to this fight than just fantastic animation. We get to see how much Endeavor has grown as a character, the struggle of fulfilling the huge role of the number one hero, and his regret of what he has done in the past, and how that is driving him to protect everything in the present.
It’s a roller coaster of a fight, but the highlight was his final move going “PLUS ULTRA!” a phrase used by his rival All Might.
Satoro Gojo vs Jogo: Jujutsu Kaisen ( Episode 7 )
Jujutsu Kaisen is set in a world where cursed spirits feed on unsuspecting humans, and fragments of the legendary fearedfallen angel “Ryomen Sukuna” have been lost and scattered.
Jujutsu Kaisen has taken the anime world by storm. Leaving the audience wanting more.
This anime fight against Satoru Gojo vs. the special grade cursed spirit Jogo in an assassination attempt on an unspecified highway.
This fight showcases Gojo’s source of arrogance. The immeasurable power that makes him literally untouchable.
Gojo completely toyed around with Jogo both emotionally and physically, even leaving the mid-fight to pick up his student leaving Jogo with little to no confidence.
Our final thoughts on the best anime fights of 2020. We had a blast watching all the battles that were put forth for consideration for the best anime fights of 2020. As you know, we decided to do something a little different in 2020, since there were so many great fights to choose from. We narrowed it down to five fights and then had a vote.
The year has been pretty exciting for the anime genre, with new series being born and some old favorites making a comeback. We’ve seen our fair share of surprising twists and shocking plot turns, but we’re happy to say that it was all worth it.
