a month, and it takes up about one-third of all the bandwidth in North America.

The company continues to change how we watch television by offering original series on top of already popular shows and films. Over the years, the company has been putting up animated series and films, and they have crossed borders to anime. 

Constantly stocking up their anime library, Netflix is now a treasure trove for anime buffs, not to mention those who are new and want some recommendations. There’s something there for everyone: mountains of content from iconic series like Naruto, One Piece or Fullmetal Alchemist, plus Netflix originals that will take your breath away the first time you see them.

Below are the best anime for newbies Netflix has to offer:

1. I’m Standing of A Million Lives

From Maho Films studios, upon writing this, there are about 12 episodes available on Netflix, but, as for every anime on this list, available episodes depends on the country’s Netflix; it’s best to check on available seasons and episodes.

Yotsuya Yuusuke and his classmates Shindou Iu and Hakozaki Kusue are transported to a strange, unknown world inhabited by mythological creatures. As soon as they arrive, the Game Master appears, granting them a quest time-limited with some magic on their side! To help in this quixotic adventure, he also grants both of Yotsuya’s friends Warrior roles while giving him an unexpected role: that of Farmer?! This is how three students had such a stressful life full of adventures completing quests for multiple phases all over the fantastical land. 

2. Devils Line

This is a seinen anime series with a lot of carnage and touchy themes; it seems the studio: Platinum Vision deals a lot with this type of delivery. But don’t be fooled; it’s mainly a vampire romance anime.

Tsukasa Taira’s life is turned upside down when her best friend reveals himself to be a vampire during a tense confrontation with Yuuki Anzai, the human-vampire hybrid. Her friend gets arrested, and Tsukasa finds herself drawn more towards this mysterious man. Vampires walk in society as part of their society, but they do not require blood to survive; to the limit emotions can make them go crazy though causing uncontrollable rages or aggression , which makes people afraid of vampires because they are so unpredictable.

3. Welcome tofallen angel School Iruma Kun

From Bandai Namco Pictures, this is a fun little slice of life anime with fantasy elements. Although Netflix is a little behind on the episodes, the first season is available, and it is already a fun watch on its own.

Fourteen-year-old Iruma Suzuki has been unfortunate all his life, having to work to earn money for his irresponsible parents despite being underage. One day, he finds out that both of his parents sold him as a slave, thefallen angel Sullivan who is looking for someone to raise as his grandchild and boast about. Iruma is enrolled in thefallen angel school Babyls and tries to keep a low profile in fear of revealing himself as human; however, this turns out to be more diffi than anticipated because Sullivan turns out to be the headmaster.

4. Jujutsu Kaisen

This supernatural shounen anime is brought to us by MAPPA studios, so we can expect great things from JujutsoKaisen.

The high schooler Yuuji Itadori is known for being a member of the Oc Club and spending his days either at the clubroom or visiting his bedridden grandfather. One day, he unknowingly encounters cursed items that turn out to be an ancientfallen angel named Sukuna Ryoumen’s body parts. Yuuji is thrust into the world of Curses formed from human malice and negativity, but he finds himself with powers that can stop them in their tracks!

 5. Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma

Coming from J.C. Staff studios, this shounen anime is all about food and cooking but oddly has a lot of mature moments.

Souma Yukihira has always been the sous chef for his father’s restaurant, but when he learns that their business is being shut down to pave the way for Souma’s dad to travel around and expand his own culinary skills in other restaurants. He sends Souma off to Tootsuki Culinary Academy, where only 10% of students graduate!

6. The Quintessential Quintuplets

 A fun anime series that feature a cute set of anime girls.

When Fuutarou Uesugi is offered a private tutoring gig with an absurd wage, he has to make the tough decision of accepting. He doesn’t know how long this opportunity will last, so it’s better than nothing for his family, who can barely scrape by debt-ridden father and all. The only catch is that the girl he needs to tutor is the same arrogant girl he had a confrontation with, and she’s a fifth of a quintuplet.

7. Haikyu!!

Arguably one of the best sports anime today, taking the community by storm, from Production I.G. 

Small-statured Shouyou Hinata revives the volleyball club at his middle school after watching an ace nicknamed “Little Giant” in action. The newly formed team even makes it to a tournament, but their first match turns out to be their last when they are brutally squashed by the King of Court, Tobio Kageyama. Hinata vows he will surpass him and so graduates from Middle School before joining Karasuno High School’s Volleyball Team, where he finds that his sworn rival (Kageyama) has now also joined as a teammate.

8. Angels of

A dark psychological anime with beautiful animation styles;

Rachel’s eyes were lifeless. She had no idea how or why she was in the basement of a building, but it didn’t matter to her anymore; all that mattered now was . She stumbles across a bandaged taker of lives named Zack, who is trying to escape. After promising to take the life of her as soon as he is free, Rachel and Zack set out to ascend through the building floor by floor until they escape. However, as they progress, they meet more twisted people that seem familiar with Rachel’s face!  

9. A Whisker Away

From Studio Colorido has released what many in the community consider classic anime; we have a cute romance anime film:

Miyo Sasaki is a high school girl who comes from a broken family. She’s energetic and has trouble with her stepmother but manages to find refuge in Kento Hinode. Her obsessive love for him takes form as she interacts with him as the white cat named ‘Tarou’. Miyo soon realizes that she can’t help Kento when he needs it most like a cat. She is faced with a dilemma, reveal her identity and risk losing what they had, or silently look on as he suffers. 

10. Darwins game

The newest game in the survival genre, Darwin‘s Game, is a fun and creative twist on an old favorite.

Kaname Sudou had never heard of Darwin’s Game before, but he decided to give the invite a shot. The moment he opened it up on his phone screen, an enormous green snake popped out and bit him in the neck! Kaname was puzzled to find himself in the infirmary with no sign of a snake bite. The school had dismissed him for the day, insisting that he take it easy. His curiosity got the better of him, and he opens the app again. He finds himself fighting for his life as the game pits the players against each other in real-life battles.

11. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K

This is a super epic fantasy anime that is easily the funniest anime the anime industry has dished out so far.

Kusuo Saiki is gifted with a wide assortment of supernatural abilities ranging from telepathy to x-ray vision. Unfortunately, the life of a psychic has its own set of disadvantages, such as constant inconveniences caused by his powers and not being able to live an ordinary hassle-free life as most people can enjoy. Kusuo tries to stay out of the spotlight by keeping this power that separates him from others in school, but it becomes harder for him to ignore the people around him or the situations they get him into.

12. Your Lie in April

A beautiful film about love, loss, and recovery from the powerhouse, A1 Pictures.

After the of Kousei’s mother, he becomes unable to hear his own music. However, two years later, when a beautiful violinist named Kaori Miyazono comes into his life and stirs up everything that was once colorless in it with her presence, something changes within him.

13. Cells At Work

A well-liked educational anime with a fun way of delivering facts paired with an amazing art style.

The human body is an amazing and intricate system. We have 37 trillion cells that are working hard day in, day out to ensure our survival. Fresh out of training, the cheerful Sekkekkyuu AE3803 is ready for her first task: transporting oxygen around your blood vessels 24/7, 365 days a year! Her colleague Hakkekkyuu U-1146 patrols tirelessly so foreign bacteria can’t find their new home inside you while little platelets line up at construction sites all over the place – dealing with wounds on-demand or going wayward from allergies. 

14. One-Punch Man

This is easily the funniest anime out there. From Madhouse Studios, this satirical shounen anime takes everything we know about superheroes and overpowered anime characters and turn them inside out.

Saitama is a hero with an unimpressive hobby. In order to pursue his childhood dream, he trained relentlessly for three years— and lost all of his hair in the process! Now Saitama has become incredibly powerful, so much so that no enemy is able to defeat him in battle. However, due to this fact, he’s become quite bored – until Genos arrives and asks him to be his master and introduces him to the professional hero industry.

 15. High-Rise Invasion

From Zero-G, a beautiful anime adaptation of an equally beautiful manga, this story is somewhat an isekai with a bloody twist.

Yuri Honjou knew she was in trouble when a masked assailant began chasing her with an axe. She had just witnessed the man’s head being cracked open and found herself trapped, butwasn’t going down without a fight. But she finds herself in a world similar to hers, but very different.  

16. Ouran High School Host Club

One of the rare anime that handles reverse trap, and Bones Studiostook the life of it beautifully.

The door to Music Room #3 should have been a safe haven for Haruhi Fujioka, but then she opened it and found herself within the Ouran High School Host Club. In a panic trying to get away from the club, she accidentally breaks an expensive vase. To pay for the vase, she now dresses like a boy and becomes a member of the club. Comedy ensues as romance blooms within the cast of characters.

17. Bloom into you

A very sweetromance anime from TROYCA studios, with all 13 episodes available on Netflix.

The series follows Yuu Koito, a girl who has never felt love before. Since she was young, she’s dreamed of falling in love and romanticized the day when it would happen- but that day had never come, even when someone confessed to her. This made her unable to fully connect with friends or peers. She meets Tokou Nanami, a girl who has also never experienced love until she met Yuu. To Yuu’s surprise, Touko suddenly confesses to her, and while she does not reciprocate due to the inability of loving back, Toko allows for Touko to be in love with her–albeit under one condition: that she can’t ever return it or feel any romantic feelings for Touko.

18. Teasing Master Takagi-san

From the masters of slice of life romance, Shin-Ei Animation, we get a fun anime in the form of Teasing Master Takagi-san.

Having a friend that knows you inside out should be a good thing, but Nishikata is the one who faces Takagi’s daily taunts. And he has to do so knowing she predicted his every move with her meticulous knowledge of him. But in spite of it all, Nishikata vowed: someday, he would make this girl blush from embarrassment using only words! 

19. Neon Genesis: Evangelion

Evangelion’s influence is so pervasive that it can be seen anywhere from Persona 3 to Gurren Lagann, making the show a phenomenon, to the point it was credited with most classic anime tropes in the mecha genre.

Gendou Ikari was a man who never backed down from his responsibilities. As the head of Nerv, it is up to him and he alone to lead humanity’s last hope against angels that are heralding Earth’s destruction in 2015. Gendou had an ulterior motive for seeking out compatible pilots with special abilities: they weren’t just going on a machine; these individuals would be subjected to various experiments inside Evangelions which could potentially turn them into something more than human or take the life of them outright if their synchronization process failed. 

20. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

For many, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the best anime experiences out there. It’s easy to see why: it has all these mature themes and an accurate adaptation that can only be found in this show.

The Elric brothers learn a hard lesson about life, and alchemy. Edward loses his left leg while Alphonse’s physical body is lost in the process of human transmutation: one forbidden act that they are bound by this Law of Equivalent Exchange. They hope to return back to their original bodies and search for the philosopher stone.

21. My Hero Academia

Probably one of the most popular anime titles in Netflix’s anime library.

Izuku couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride when he was chosen to be the successor for All Might, his idol. The famous number one hero has seen Izuku‘s passion and drives since they were children. Though it took months of training in order to inherit his quirk, there is no doubt that this boy will make everyone proud!

22. Assassination Classroom

A fun action anime with pristine character development. This anime also depicts close-to-reality fight scenes, tactics and principles, except for the ones that involve Kuro-Sensei.

When the moon is cut in half by a mysterious creature, our heroes have to take down Koro-sensei before Earth suffers the same fate. Headmaster Granville assigns them their first task: assassinate him within 20 days! But it’ll be tough—Koro-Sensei can fly at speeds of up to Mach 10, and he’s already shown that nothing stops his invasion plans for Earth. What makes things more complicated is when they find out that this strange monster isn’t just indestructible–he’s also really good with teaching.

23. By the Grace of The Gods

This isekai anime gives off a slow vibe but gives the audience a nice easy watch, not too much action and a lot of interaction that bring light-hearted moments.

Deep in the forest, far from any human contact, there lives a child named Ryouma Takebayashi. He engages in the rather strange hobby of keeping various types of slimes as pets. Furthermore, despite his young age and small stature for his eight years old body type, he has a sturdy physique and good compatibility with magic; all because three gods gave him another chance to pursue one goal: savor life’s wonders!

24. Dr Stone

An educational anime that’s full of laughs and survivalist information. Not that we with average I.Q. would be able to pull them off.

The blinding green light strikes the Earth and petrifies mankind around the world. Several millennia later, Taiju awakens to find that all of humanity has turned into stone statues; nature had flourished in their absence. In this new age with only one living human left – his science-loving friend Senkuu –Taiju learns about Senkuu’s grand scheme: To launch a full revival of civilization through science! With brawn from Taiju and brains from Senku, these two formidable partners take on an impossible quest—to save our planet by reviving its people with the power of science.
